What If I’ve Never Worked on a Professional Film Set? The writer on Script to Screen is still expected to work with producers and directors in refining their material as the production moves forward. Writers can utilize our Short Screenplay Workshop or Script Studios to help develop their screenplays.
Last year we accepted pitches and helped writers to develop their ideas into screenplays. Production assistants will only be assigned tasks onsite and will less responsibility than participants on the production team.įinally, this year we'll only be accepting completed screenplays. Alternatively, you can participate as a production assistant for only $30. Don't worry, it's only $60 to be part of a production team. We're also increasing the cost to better offset the costs associated to the production.
You'll still get opportunities to participate in critical tasks and collaborate, but this model gradually introduces you to filmmaking skills. This means participants will work directly under professional mentors. We’re only going to accept one script per person, so pick your favorite screenplay. There is a $10 submission fee for scripts, with all proceeds being used to fund the Script to Screen program.
A brief overview of who you are and what this story means to you. A synopsis, no more than one page in length. Anything submitted after this deadline will not be considered for this year’s Script to Screen program. Do we think this idea has potential on the festival scene?. Are there educational opportunities for other participants in this idea?. Is this a project that can be shot with a $1,000 budget, a safe 3-4 day local shooting schedule, and with the resources Bellingham Film has available?. Strong story, characters, and a clear narrative with external goals, obstacles, and transformation. Completed scripts that are between eight and twelve pages in length. Participation Fee: $60 for at least six weeks on a mentored production team, including up to four days on set Work with the director of photography to color correct the final film. Work with post-production team to finalize the sound. Handle any special effects for the production. Locate, construct, or source props, wardrobes, and set dressing. Work with the director to develop the visual look of the film. Work with the director of photography to create appropriate lighting plans for the production. Help to develop and supervise production schedule, manage the budget, and identify necessary production needs. Program Coordinator Josh Krenz- Josh has produced dozens of short films, written hundreds more, and won a few awards along the way. Bellingham Film Founder Avielle Heath- an Emmy-award-winning filmmaker and jack of all trades, Avielle works throughout the Pacific Northwest and nationally as a line producer that specializes in production design and casting. Most recently, Maureen was Staff Senior/Key Makeup Artist for CTV/Bell Media in Canada prior to her move to Los Angeles. Makeup Artist Maureen 'Moe' Sherwood- her broad experience encompasses broadcast television, media production, documentaries, film, commercials, photography and live theatre.
